Polier was involved in a variety of professional organizations, including the North Carolina Board of Architecture, American Institutes of Architects, Raleigh Engineers Club, Construction Specifications Institute, and Raleigh Council of Architects. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s the firm changed names several times. Page, and later became partner in the firm. In 1955 Polier began working with Jesse M. Rice and later for the firm of Cooper, Haskins & Rice. in architectural engineering from North Carolina State College in 1949, and worked for architect Richard L. August Lewis Polier (1922-2000) was an architect based in Raleigh, North Carolina. A short biographical sketch of Polier containing photographs and clippings is also included. This collection contains blueprints of the North Carolina state capitol, blueprint plans for arena at North Carolina State Fair grounds (Dorton Arena, William Henley Dietrick and Matthew Nowicki, architects), and plans for four residences in the Raleigh area. In 1962, Barefoot was named an Associate Professor, he was promoted to Professor in 1968, and in 1975, Barefoot was named Head of the University Studies Division at North Carolina State University. Though Barefoot's career often took him overseas for extended periods of time, he remained a member of the faculty at North Carolina State. (Aldos Cortez) Barefoot earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in wood technology from North Carolina State College in the late 1940s, and then received a doctorate from Duke University in 1958 for his research on the manufacture of plywood. Barefoot Papers consist of professional publications and correspondence, academic and adminstrative papers, computer cards and diskettes, fossils, forestry study video cassette tapes, and computer generated dendrochronological statistical studies conducted by Aldos Cortez Barefoot during his tenure with the Department of Wood and Paper Science at North Carolina State College (later North Carolina State University).
